Inspection & Enforcement
The Department of Inspection and Enforcement is responsible for the administration of all municipal by-laws as they relate to the health, safety, and wellness of the Town of Riverview. Bylaws relating to land use are also administered by this department.
The department comprises a By-law Officer, an Animal Control Officer and Commissionaires. The By-law Officer oversees the administration and enforcement of by-laws regarding land use such as dangerous and unsightly premises, standards for maintenance of residential buildings, garbage collection, recreational areas and the zoning and building by-laws.
The By-Law Officer is also responsible for the maintenance and enforcement of regulatory by-laws relating to health and safety, parking, noise and curfews. Many of these by-laws are enforced in collaboration with the Codiac Regional RCMP. Animal control and fire protection by-laws are also administered by the By-law Officer. Any complaints after normal working hours regarding excessive noise, firearms, and curfews should be immediately directed to the RCMP for response.
Although building inspection and permitting is carried out by the City of Moncton, inquiries regarding zoning issues such as building and development compliance can be forwarded to Andrew Newell at ANewell@townofriverview.ca or by calling 387-2256.
All complaints or inquiries concerning animal control should be directed to AnimalControl@townofriverview.ca or 387-2230.
