Waste Management

Waste collection in Riverview takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Town of Riverview is responsible for collecting waste at all residential households in Riverview. Southeast Eco360 manages the area's solid waste program.

To find your schedule and set automatic reminders consult Southeast eco360's online schedule. The municipal by-law states that waste must be at the curb before 6 a.m. on the day of collection but not before 6 p.m.on the night before collection. Each bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lb).

3-Stream Program

The Town of Riverview follows a 3-stream program, which involves the separation of recyclables in a blue bag, organics in a green bag and garbage in a clear bag. The green bag is collected weekly and the blue and clear bags are picked up on alternating weeks (see collection schedule). To learn more about what goes in which bag, visit www.eco360.ca

Bulk Waste Collection

A special bulk waste collection is held twice per year so that residents can dispose of items not normally collected at the curbside. Waste collectors will pick up household appliances, furniture, large electronics, yard clippings, etc.

Spring collection: May 29-June 2, 2017
Fall collection: Oct.16-20, 2017

This is an opportunity for citizens in residential households to get rid of furniture, appliances, electronics, yard waste, etc. Remember, you can also donate usable furniture and household items to EnviroPlus (853-7722) and Habitat for Humanity ReStore (384-4664).

Tips to avoid having items left at the curb:

  • Materials must be set out before 6 a.m. on regular collection day.
  • Branches must be bundled and should not exceed  06 m (2 ft) in diameter or 1.2 metres (4 ft) in length.
  • Each bag must weigh no more than 18 kg (40 lb).
  • Tires will not be collected.
  • All regular-sized waste, organics and recycling must be in the correct coloured transparent bags (clear, green and blue, respectively).
  • Hazardous, commercial and demolition waste cannot be picked up at the curb. If you need to dispose of these items, please contact Eco360 at www.eco360.ca or 506-877-1040.

Household Hazardous Waste

The Eco Mobile Unit visits the Riverview Operations Centre (300 Robertson Street) several times throughout the year. Consult www.eco360.ca. for upcoming dates and refer to Eco360's sorting guide for a list of acceptable household hazardous waste.
