October 1-7 is Wellness Week in New Brunswick!

New Brunswick Wellness Week is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate our efforts, as individuals, families, organizations, schools, communities and workplaces, in taking action to improve wellness and our progress towards a healthier future.

Get the ball rolling in our community! Make a wellness commitment! Organize a wellness-related activity with your group, workplace, organization, school or community.

Wellness Week Activities in Riverview 2016

  • FREE Wellness Week Public Swim

    Sunday, October 2, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and 5- 9 p.m.

  • Riverview Striders Walking Club Open House
    Monday, October 3, 9 a.m.
    Meet at Jean Coutu (438 Coverdale)|

    Bring your water bottle and come dressed for a walk on the Riverfront Trail. Health snacks will be provided after the walk.

  • Accessible Bonfire
    Tuesday, October 4, 6:30 p.m.
    Sandhill Side Trail Bonfire Pit (Pine Glen Road, 10 km from Gunningsville Blvd lights)
    Check out the new bonfire pit built by our FHTA volunteers on Sandhill Side Trail! The trailhead is located 10 km past the Gunningsville intersection on the right hand side of Pine Glen Road. People of all abilities are encouraged to attend; volunteers will be able to provide assistance to-and-from the fire pit, which is located 100 meters from the trailhead. Open fire roasted popcorn, marshmallows and other treats are provided.
  • "Why Weight" with Sculpt Health and Wellness Riverview

    Attention ladies! Many women shy away from weight training because they think it will make them "bulky". NOT TRUE! Come to this information/question and answer session about the many benefits of this form of exercise. It will be led by Scott Wright of United Performance Gym.

    Join Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue for this free AdventureSmart workshop. By following three easy steps, AdventureSmart believes that outdoor recreationalists will significantly improve their chances of survival should they become hurt or lost.
    • Trip Planning (write a trip plan before you go and leave it with a friend or family)
    • Training (obtain the skills and knowledge you need before heading out)
    • Taking the Essentials (carry the essentials and know how to use them)
  • DO THE LOOP Challenge
    Friday, October 7, 9 a.m.
    Are you up for the challenge? Become a 'looper' and walk the Riverfront Trail from Riverview to Moncton and back, using the Gunningsville Bridge and causeway pedestrial trail. 

    We will meet at the Fundy Chocolate River Station Parking lot at 9 a.m. The entire loop is approximately 6.25 km. Take your time and complete the challenge with your family and friends! Please wear appropriate clothing, shoes and bring a water bottle. We are going rain or shine! Cheerleaders are welcome. After you complete the challenge, don't forget to pose for a picture with our banner proclaiming that you completed the loop!

    Not ready for the full loop just yet? Challenge yourself to complete a smaller section on October 7. Shuttles will be available at the Gunningsville Bridge and the causeway.
