2021 Remembrance Day Ceremony to be live-streamed

The Town of Riverview and the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association will hold a private Remembrance Day Ceremony next week.

The November 11 ceremony will be held in Caseley Park for invited guests only to reduce the risk of Covid-19 spread among vulnerable members of the community.

The ceremony will be recorded and livestreamed on Riverview Fire and Rescue’s YouTube channel at 11 a.m. Click here to view it.

"This year marks the 100th anniversary of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance," said Retired Colonel Bill Hanson of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association. "While we can't all be together this Remembrance Day, we can wear a poppy to honour those who sacrificed for our freedoms."

Prior to the ceremony, wreaths and crosses will be placed around the cenotaph. Those who have made a donation for a wreath or cross will have their names announced, in memory of their families or organizations as in the past. Those wishing to make a donation for a memorial cross can still do so. Please contact Karen Thompson at 506-387-2037.
