Changes to animal control services in Riverview

The Town of Riverview has decided to terminate its animal control services contract with On the Mend Canine Consultants (“On the Mend”), represented by Pauline Cormier, and will no longer receive animal control services from On the Mend as of Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

“Following an internal review of animal control operations, it was discovered that On the Mend is in breach of its contract with the Town of Riverview by failing to hold a valid impounding licence as required by the contract. As a result, the Town is terminating its contract with the current animal control services provider,” said Colin Smith, Chief Administrative Officer.

“We are undertaking a thorough review of our contractual process and we are open to making improvements to the animal control by-law to ensure our community’s health and safety remains a top priority,” he continued.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 7, 2019, the Town of Riverview incorrectly stated that On the Mend holds an NBSPCA licence. The NBSPCA performs site inspections on behalf of the Province of New Brunswick as part of the process to secure a Pet Establishment Licence (PEL). A PEL is not an endorsement or recommendation by the NBSPCA.
