Council Highlights - August 13, 2018

Council held a moment of silence for the civilian victims and fallen officers of the Fredericton Police following the tragedy that occurred in Fredericton on August 10.

Monthly Grant Report

  • $100 to Keira Rafferty for Basketball New Brunswick
  • $150 to Riverview Minor Hockey for its Golf Tournament on Aug. 16
  • $300 to Canadian Mental Health Association for its Family Fun Day on Aug. 11
  • $1000 to the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards on Oct. 24

Tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFP)

  • Amendment to Tender 18-71: Council voted to revise the contract price awarded to Lounsbury Automotive Ltd. at the May 14, 2018 Regular Council Meeting and exclude the trade-in vehicle valued at $2000 in the purchase agreement. Tender 18-71 is therefore awarded to Lounsbury Automotive Ltd. in the amount of $38,833.90 (including HST).

New Business

Council made a resolution to set a public presentation for the re-adoption of Municipal Development Plan By-law No. 300-32, being Municipal Plan By-law No. 300-33, on September 10, 2018.

Council made a resolution for the re-adoption of the Municipal Development Plan By-law No. 300-32, being Municipal Plan By-law No. 300-33, and Zoning By-law No. 300-6, being Zoning By-law No. 300-7, be referred to the Planning Advisory Committee for its written views.

Council made a resolution for a public hearing to be tentatively set for October 22, 2018, which may be confirmed at the public presentation on September 10, 2018.

Council heard a presentation from Sean Rollo, a citizen who proposed an amendment to the noise by-law to include language that protects against excessive noise any time of day and to include specific language for acceptable decibel levels. Council advised staff to research other municipal by-laws and bring forth recommendations.
