Council Highlights
Committee of the Whole – February 26, 2018

Public Presentation:

Sarah Anderson from the City of Moncton’s Urban Planning presented on the proposal to amend the Municipal Development Plan and Zoning By-law to redesignate 1174 Coverdale Road (a church property) to allow for a residential home with rentable space in the basement for small gatherings, meetings, social clubs and seniors groups. The recommendation includes limiting entertainment use to a maximum of 40 per cent of the total floor plan. No objections were received.

The proposal will proceed to a public hearing on April 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.

Monthly Grant Report

  • $100 to Isaac Acker an Atlantic Exchange Student.
  • $500 to the NB Building Officials Association for the bursary for Mike O’Neill.
  • $1000 to Harvest House Atlantic for the walk for homelessness on March 17, 2018.
  • $1500 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s walk for cure on June 10, 2018.
  • $3000 to Atlantic Nationals Car Show Extravaganza’s annual Riverview breakfast on July 5, 2018.
  • $1250 to River of Pride’s Pride Week celebrations from August 18-25, 2018.

Other Business

  • Town of Riverview’s building permit reached the highest values for the month of January since 2009.

Council Recommendations 

  • Council approved a recommendation from the Department of Economic Development, to proceed with drafting a financial incentive program to attract new investment.

These recommendations are brought forward for adoption at the next Regular Council Meeting.
