Fall Clean-Up: Bulk waste will be collected Oct. 14-18

Riverview residents will be able to dispose of large and bulky waste on their regular collection day during the week of October 14-18, 2019.  This is an opportunity for residents to get rid of furniture, appliances, electronics, yard waste, etc. Tires will not be collected.

Per the By-Law 400-15-3 Garbage Collection, waste is only permitted at the curb at 6 p.m. on the night prior to collection. By-law officers will make an exception for bulk waste collection and allow those items only to be at the curb starting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 13.

Remember, you can also donate gently-used furniture and household items to EnviroPlus (853-7722) and Habitat for Humanity ReStore (384-4664).

Rules for bulk waste collection:

  • Items must be placed at the curb before 6 a.m. on regular collection day.
  • Branches and tree limbs (no greater than 2.5 cm or 1 inch in diameter) must be securely bundled and no longer, taller or wider than 60 cm (2 feet).
  • Each bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lb).
  • Household hazardous waste presents a danger to collectors and will not be picked up at the curb. This includes batteries, cooking oil, aerosols, paint, light bulbs, fertilizers, chemicals, CFL bulbs, propane tanks, etc.
