Greater Moncton Immigration New Website

Greater Moncton’s initiatives to attract immigrants and international students to the region to live, work and study got a major boost today with the launching of the new Greater Moncton Immigration Website (www.immigrationgreatermoncton.ca), a partnership project of Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe. “We need to ensure that the number of new families and individuals continues to rise to sustain our economic future,” Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold said as the website went live.

“This website, which focuses among other things on the message that there are a wide variety of jobs available in key sectors, will act as a tool to continue to attract top talent to Greater Moncton,” she said, noting that 51 per cent of the area’s population growth is now coming from immigration.

“Our immigrants are leaving everything behind and are extremely motivated to get connected to their community, to find a home and find work, and this website gives great information on how to achieve that,” said Dieppe Mayor Yvon Lapierre.

“Searching online for information is essential both before and after people make the decision to emigrate, and this website will be a useful tool to help both immigrants and international students to prepare themselves for life here,” said Riverview Mayor Ann Seamans.

The immigration website and associated marketing materials were created based on online consultations with more than 30 community partners including post-secondary institutions, settlement agencies, ethno-cultural associations, feedback from newcomers and commonly asked questions from immigration stakeholders. Other content was created based on the recently published Newcomers’ Guide.

The website fills two of the objectives of the Greater Moncton Immigration Strategy: to build a one-stop web portal to promote immigrating to Greater Moncton, and to retain and integrate immigrants by summarizing services available to them within a single source.

Besides employment and education information, the site includes details on housing, day care, ethno-cultural associations, transportation options and quality of life amenities. It will be continually updated and augmented with a monthly newsletter which will include new training and job options and other relevant news for immigrants and international students.
