Motorists making illegal right-turn movements onto Gunningsville Bridge cause unnecessary delays for east Riverview traffic

RIVERVIEW (N.B.) The Town of Riverview is reminding motorists travelling from east Riverview using the Gunningsville Bridge that it is illegal to make a right turn at the traffic signals at the Gunningsville Bridge intersection.

“Additional signage has been added to let motorists know this type of movement is not allowed at the intersection,” said Michel Ouellet, the Town of Riverview’s Director of Engineering and Public Works. “Codiac RCMP are aware of the problem and have started to enforce the rules of the road to stop this illegal movement.”

Moncton-bound traffic approaching the Gunningsville Bridge intersection from Hillsborough Road must use the channelized yield lane to access the bridge. Motorists who are “jumping the queue” and turning right at the traffic signals are causing longer queues than necessary on Hillsborough Road since motorists in the proper lane are forced to yield when they should be advancing. This slows down the traffic that has begun to flow from the yield ramp and increases overall delays on Hillsborough Road.
