Riverview Joins Invest in Canada Delegation to Lisbon

RIVERVIEW (N.B.) – On Friday, November 2, the Town of Riverview will join Invest in Canada’s official delegation to Lisbon, Portugal, to attend one of the world’s leading technology conferences.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, and Invest in Canada have coordinated a strategic trade mission to attend Web Summit 2018 from November 5-8, a conference that will attract over 70,000 start-ups, investors, thought leaders and multinationals to hear leading-edge content while building valuable connections between Canada and Europe.

The Town of Riverview’s Economic Development Officer, Tahlia Ferlatte, has been invited to attend the conference as part of the Canadian delegation where she plans to represent key regional offerings.

“As the only organization from Atlantic Canada, I look forward to sharing what we have to offer companies that are considering an expansion into Canada, and how we can support them in their growth efforts,” says Ferlatte, eager to land in-market. “If Canada is a market of interest, I’m there to educate them on why the Town of Riverview should be their landing zone.

“Aside from participating in over 20 educational conference tracks covering content in emerging and existing industries such as SaaS, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and health technology, the Town of Riverview plans to coordinate sector-specific meetings with the intent of attracting investment to the local area. “We plan to target companies that offer products and services in clean technology, an industry that not only aligns with our goals and value proposition as a Town, but as an Atlantic region. We will also be targeting companies in the business services sector, an industry that continues to thrive in the province and within the Town of Riverview.”

The Canadian delegation will have exclusive access to various networking opportunities to engage with industry and government officials, as well as a 1-day summit with targeted programming that includes face-to-face meetings the Trade Commissioner Service, a break-down of regulatory frameworks in the EU for companies looking to tap into the market, and access to a vast attendee list. The delegation will also have a booth in the event’s tradeshow pavilion alongside representatives from Google, Microsoft and Samsung.
