The Limit Does Not Exist – Young Entrepreneur Transforming Lives Through Luxe Salon

Opening a new business is no easy feat, especially when you got your start in 2020. Just ask Ashley McDavid, owner and medical aesthetician at Luxe Salon Riverview & Salisbury.

As someone who always strived to reach her full potential, even in rewarding jobs McDavid found herself wanting more. When she thought of where she was meant it be, she felt the pull of entrepreneurship. Already an eyelash technician and certified spray tan specialist, she decided to go back to school for medical aesthetics – with the goal of opening a salon. Thanks to her determination and strong work ethic, she completed her education while working part-time and as a single mom.

Digging In
While she was still in school, she joined a salon in Moncton as a partner, but she dreamed of eventually opening a place of her own in Riverview. Her dream was realized in January of 2020 as she started renovations to open Luxe Salon, only to be challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying restrictions that hit salon businesses hard.

She was able to re-open in July of 2020 and soon started growing her team. Today, she has two salons – one in Salisbury that opened in April 2021, and one in the Chocolate River Station – 391 Coverdale Road, Riverview. The business has grown to eight team members, with the opportunity to bring more on board this year.

“I’m proud and amazed by the things I’ve accomplished,” explained McDavid. “I never would have envisioned becoming this big and I have my wonderful team to thank because without them, Luxe wouldn’t be what it is today.”

Empowering Others
“I understand how important flexibility is,” she explained. “That’s why I offer many opportunities at Luxe where staff can be sole proprietors (chair rent) or be employees, so that they can make the decision that best suits their lifestyle. I’m honored to offer a space that gives other women the opportunity to grow in our community.”

As if owning two salons and leading a team wasn’t already an impressive feat, McDavid is also a board member for the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick and the Chair for their Examining and Licensing Committee. Luxe Salon also won the “Emerging Business of the Year Award” from the Albert County Chamber of Commerce in 2021.

Supporting Local
Sharing the spotlight with local vendors is a priority at Luxe. They feature as many local retail opportunities and products as possible to further support the local economy. What they can’t source locally, they try to get from Canadian brands – understanding the impact on businesses close to home.

“I love this town,” explained McDavid. “It’s important to me to be able to serve and support our local community.”

Beyond local business, employer, and community supporter, Luxe offers a suite of services including hair, nails, makeup, waxing, facials, spray tans, kids services, eyelashes, microblading and retail.

From lifting others to chasing big goals – McDavid shows no signs of slowing down. When asked her advice for other young entrepreneurs, she loves to share her story in hopes that it might inspire others to follow their dreams.

Her message? Anything is possible when you put your heart and soul into it. And when you walk through the doors of Luxe Salon, you’ll feel exactly what that means.

Come meet Ashley and her team at their official Grand Opening celebration (two years in the making!) You’re invited to attend the event at the Chocolate River Station this Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be a ribbon cutting with Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc at 11 a.m., 10% off retail (excl. tumblers and gift cards), free gift bags while quantities last, grand prizes, special offers and more!
