Riverview Town Hall

Commercial signage can add vibrancy to town streets and be a vital tool for businesses. Until recently, the Town of Riverview did not have regulations to support safety and aesthetic standards for signage.

A new by-law and application process has been adopted to regulate signage location, types, sizes and the length of time a portable sign can be erected. These guidelines will balance the value to businesses with the need to ensure safety for passing pedestrians and motorists as well as maintaining visual appeal.

The new portable sign regulations will be in place as of April 1, 2019 and all portable signs after that date will require a permit. In addition, no signs will be permitted to be placed along the riverfront lands owned by the Town (view map here).

Prior to submitting a formal application, all applicants should familiarize themselves with the following by-laws:

  • Town of Riverview Portable Sign By-Law 700-60
  • Town of Riverview Signs on Town-Owned Land By-Law 700-65
