The Town of Riverview is accepting applications for the Casual Labourer for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Relations. Casual employees perform a variety of seasonal tasks, including the maintenance, upkeep and repairs of municipal facilities, public grounds and infrastructure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of high school or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of general facilities and grounds maintenance experience and/or in the operation and servicing of heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Relevant work experience including facility maintenance, equipment use and routine maintenance.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to safely, proficiently and efficiently operate and maintain equipment and facilities normally found in a municipal environment
  • Ability to operate trucks, power tools, various types of mowers, and landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform physical tasks including moving objects up to 50 lbs, working at heights, use of hazardous substances, hand/power tools, powered mobile/heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and weather conditions.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and problem solve for a wide variety of duties in this occupational field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a desire to provide quality service to the public and ability to effectively work in a team based environment.
  • Attention to detail and aptitude to follow detailed work instructions and job procedures.
  • Must show proof of a valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract.
  • Criminal Record Check, meeting Town standards.

DEFINITE ASSETS:

  • Valid Class 3E New Brunswick Driver’s License.
  • Experience with small engine and automotive repair.
  • Experience in the maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  • Relevant work experience obtained within a municipal work environment.
  • Possession of a Red Seal or training and experience in any skilled trade related to the work of the Town of Riverview.
  • Training and certification in municipal swimming pool operations, turf grass management and playground safety and/or in traffic control and construction safety.

This position is represented by CUPE Local 2162.  Wage is according to the collective agreement at $19.85 per hour at 40 hours per week over a maximum term of four (4) months.
