Riverview Celebrates Parks and Recreation Month with Exciting Events and Challenges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Get Ready for a Fun-Filled June - Riverview Kicks off Parks & Recreation Month

Riverview, NB - June 1, 2023

June is recognized as Recreation and Parks Month, a time when communities across the country come together to celebrate the importance of outdoor activities, physical fitness, and the preservation of green spaces. It serves as a reminder of the numerous benefits that recreational activities bring to individuals and communities alike.

The ParticipACTION Community Challenge starts today - a nationwide initiative promoting physical activity and sport throughout the month of June. The Town of Riverview is encouraging residents and local businesses to get active and compete in the Challenge to help earn the prestigious title of Canada's Most Active Community.

The goal is simple: to track and accumulate physical activity minutes using the free ParticipACTION app and website from June 1 to June 30. Every minute logged contributes to Riverview’s total score, creating a friendly competition to inspire and motivate everyone to embrace an active lifestyle.

In addition, the Town of Riverview has organized an array of activities and events throughout the month of June for residents to attend and track their physical activity. These include:

  • The Community Bike Rodeo: Organized on World Bike Day, June 3, the Community Bike Rodeo event at the Byron Dobson Arena from 9-11 a.m. encourages community members of all ages to explore the joys of cycling and learn essential biking skills.
  • Community Bike Ride: Celebrate World Bike Day with a ride along the riverfront. Cyclists will meet at the Gazebo for 7 p.m.
  • Outdoor Yoga in the Park: Unwind and find inner peace on Monday, June 12 during a free yoga session at Caseley Park. Our certified instructor will guide participants through a series of yoga poses amidst the natural surroundings.
