Community campaign launched in support of Riverview Recreation Complex

RIVERVIEW (N.B.) – The Town of Riverview wishes to announce the official start of a community-led fundraising campaign with an objective of $2 million in support of the Riverview Recreation Complex (RRC).

“We’re very excited to be at this point, where the community can see what the Riverview Recreation Complex is going to look like and participate in the fundraising campaign,” says campaign spokesperson Lawrence Forbes. “It’s going to take a lot of community support to put a complex like this together. We’re really looking to engage every citizen and give an opportunity for everyone to be involved in the fundraising program.”

After eight years of planning, the RRC will be a 6,678 square-metre (71,000-square-foot), modern facility offering a combination of active recreation zones and gathering spaces for public meetings, special events, as well as cultural and community activities. The complex will include an eight-lane, 25-metre pool, a separate leisure pool, a 200-metre padded walking track, a turf fieldhouse, multi-purpose rooms, connections to the Mill Creek Nature Park, and more.

In addition to the $2 million goal the community campaign, the Town of Riverview is seeking funding from all levels of government under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for the $32.6 million project. The funding request would involve $13 million from the Government of Canada and $10.6 million from the Province of New Brunswick while the Town of Riverview would contribute $7 million via the program.

“The Riverview Recreation Complex will provide a sustainable approach to growth that strikes a balance between providing high-quality municipal services, an inclusive solution engaging all residents, and meeting the long-term needs of the community,” said Forbes.

The RRC will be situated at the end of Runneymeade Road, on the newly-built Bridgedale Boulevard, and is expected to open its doors to residents in late 2023.

The Town of Riverview would like to thank the dedicated team of extraordinary community leaders who are overseeing the RRC’s development and fundraising. This complex will transform our community and is well within reach thanks to their continued efforts.
