Council Statements & Inquiries

  • April is Parkinson's Awareness Month. Deputy Mayor Andrew LeBlanc congratulated Riverview’s Ralph Richardson - who lives with Parkinson’s disease – for walking daily driveway laps since the start of the pandemic. Ralph is raising funds and awareness to support Canadians living with Parkinson’s, and to help fund research into better treatments and, eventually, a cure. To date, he has raised more than $30,000.

Recommendations from Committee of the Whole

  • Council approved the audited financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2020 prepared by AC Stevenson & Partners, Chartered Professional Accountants and presented on March 22, 2021.
  • Council reappointed the firm AC Stevenson & Partners as auditors for the Town of Riverview for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2021.
  • Council authorized representatives of the 2021 Grad Class to conduct a parade through a portion of the Town of Riverview commencing at the Riverview Mall, right onto Coverdale, right onto Buckingham, right onto Whitepine, Right onto Trites Rd and then Right back into the Riverview Mall entrance off Trites on Monday, June 22, 2021 between the hour of 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Organizer of said parade must provide notification to the Riverview Fire & Rescue Department, the Engineering & Works Department, 911, Codiac RCMP and Codiac Transpo. It will be the responsibility of the parade organizer to ensure that all participants adhere to the social distancing protocols in place by the Province of New Brunswick and the Chief Medical Officer, and that an approved operational plan is in place for the event.  
  • Council approved the Appreciation for Departing Elected Officials policy.

By-Laws  

  • Council gave second and final reading to By-Law 100-6, A By-Law Relating to the Corporate Seal of the Town of Riverview.
  • Council gave second and final reading By-Law 100-15-10, A By-Law Relating to the Payment of Annual Salaries to the Mayor and Councillors of the Town of Riverview
  • Council gave second and final reading to By-Law 200-30-03, A By-Law Relating to the Repeal of By-Laws of the Town of Riverview
  • Council gave second and final reading to By-Law 300-7-4, A By-Law to Amend the Town of Riverview Zoning By-Law (Sanford Street)
  • Council gave second and final reading to By-Law 300-25-23, A By-Law Relating to Local Improvements in the Town of Riverview - Montgomery Avenue (Whitepine to Fairfax)
  • Council gave second and final reading to By-Law 300-25-24, A By-Law Relating to Local Improvements in the Town of Riverview (Toth Street)

New Business

  • Council awarded the Request for Proposal 21-08, Water Master Plan Update to Exp Services Inc. in the amount of $65,180.00 plus HST.
  • Council awarded Tender 21-59, Montgomery Avenue Reconstruction Phase 1, to Foulem Construction Ltee. in the amount of $1,601,645.00 plus HST.
  • Council award Tender 21-60, Toth Street Reconstruction and Pitt Street Water Main Renewal, to Duquette Construction (2021) Inc. in the amount of $552,296.50 plus HST
  • Council voted to cancel the Regular Council Meeting of May 10, 2021 due to the municipal election.
