Presentation

Meghan Cross from the Department of Corporate Services presented a recommendation for a ban of single-use plastic bags. The recommendation follows direction given by the three municipal councils at the June 2018 Tri-Community Council meeting to form a working group comprised of staff from the Town of Riverview, Cities of Moncton and Dieppe and Eco360 to research options to reduce single-use plastic waste.                                                                     

Monthly Grant Report

  • $1000 to the Portage Atlantic Fundraising Dinner on June 14, 2019.

Policies

  • Council adopted the Social Media Administrator Policy.

Tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFP)

  • Tender 19-66 awarded to Dexter Construction Company Ltd for $223,155.00 plus HST for the Canusa Drive sidewalk construction and road realignment.
  • RFP 2019-06 awarded to Nuttall Restoration for a three-year contract for the provision of project management services for the Holiday Lights (Light Up Riverview) project at a rate of $69 per hour.

Other Business

Council made a motion to approve the allocation of additional General Operating transit funds in the 2019 budget to increase frequency of transit services on existing routes. The new services will start in September 2019. Codiac Transpo will monitor ridership results and report back to Council.

Council approved the 2018 Annual Report as presented.

Council made a motion to approve the summer meeting schedule. For the months of July and August, the Committee of the Whole will be cancelled and Regular Council Meetings will start at 4 p.m.

Council elected Ward 2 Councillor John Coughlan to serve as Riverview’s Deputy Mayor for a one-year term until May 2020.
