BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Declaration to Join the Canadian Coalition of Municipalities – Council formally adopted a resolution to join the coalition for inclusive communities through UNESCO. Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc will officially sign the declaration on July 1 during Canada Day festivities in Caseley Park.

PETITIONS, PRESENTATIONS & DELEGATION

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

· Council approved the recommendation to adopt summer hours. Council meetings will be moved to 4 p.m. for July and August and Committee of the Whole meetings will resume in September.

· Council approved updated service charges for 2022. This includes public works services i.e. curb grinding.

· Council approved the recommendation to end covid relief measures for water bills as of July 1.

· A grant request of $500 was awarded to Bake Your Day by Lauren. Lauren is one of only 60 students chosen for the opportunity to study abroad with Class Afloat.

NEW BUSINESS

· 2021 Annual Report – The new annual report is now available on the Town’s website. Residents are encouraged to review the report online or in person through the Town Clerk’s Office.

· Grant Report – May 2022 – Council approved a grant in the amount of $500 to the Moncton Fisher Cats as well as a grant in the amount of $200 to Al Kavanaugh for the Alzheimer’s Walkathon, as well as the ALS Walk. 

· Town Clerk, Annette Crummey was congratulated on being awarded the Professional Certification Level II Intermediate from the Association of Municipal Administrators of New Brunswick.

· Election of Deputy Mayor – A new Deputy Mayor was elected last night. Town Council welcomes Wayne Bennett as Deputy Mayor for the 2022-2023 term. This is Deputy Bennett’s fifth term on Town Council and second time serving as Deputy Mayor. Congratulations are extended to Deputy Mayor Bennett as well as appreciation to outgoing Deputy Mayor, Councillor Jeremy Thorne, for his hard work in the position over the last year – representing the Town.

 

NEXT MEETING

Council will next meet for the Committee of the Whole Meeting on Monday, June 27 at 7 p.m. 

The next regular Council Meeting will be July 11 at 4 p.m. The meeting will be live-streamed on our website.
