First reading of by-laws to be enacted at the next Regular Council Meeting

  • By-Law-100-15-09, a By-Law in Amendment to By-Law 100-15-08 relating to the Payment of Annual Salaries to the Mayor and Councillors of the Town of Riverview.

Second and final reading of by-laws enacted by Council

  • By-Law 300-66, respecting the Establishment of Controlled Access Streets within the Town of Riverview.
  • By-Law 700-31 relating to the Prevention of Excessive Noise in the Town of Riverview.
  • By-Law 700-75-01 relating to the Reduction of Single Use-Plastic Bags in the Town of Riverview. 
  • By-Law 700-90 respecting Flyer Distribution in the Town of Riverview.
  • By-Law 600-05-05 relating to the Control of Animals in the Town of Riverview as amended. Town Council amended the bylaw by removing the height restriction in item 7.

Policies

  • Council adopted Policy #01-1000-01 – Flying of Flags.
  • Council adopted Policy #01-2000-03 – Records and Information Management Program Policy.                                                                  

Tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFP)

  • None presented.

Other Business

Council approved the 2019 Annual Report as presented.

Council made a motion to give the Mayor and Town Clerk authorization to execute the agreement between the Province of New Brunswick and the Town of Riverview to cost share the decorative features on the new Petitcodiac Bridge. This relates to a motion adopted by Council at the December 11, 2017 Regular Council Meeting.

Council approved an extension of the full closure of Gunningsville Boulevard from Coverdale to Pinewood for an additional three week period beginning June 9, 2020 to June 26, 2020, including weekends.

Council authorized the sale of the 391–379 Coverdale Road (PID 05087127 and PID 00656306) for $800,000.00, as per the purchase and sale agreement with Cordova Development as the sale conditions have been removed by both parties, with the transfer of property set for March 31, 2021 as the closing date.  Furthermore, Council authorizes the Mayor and Town Clerk to sign all documentation to formalize the agreement.

Council made a motion to employ summer hours by eliminating the Committee of the Whole meetings for July and August and that the scheduled time for the Regular Council Meetings begin at 4 p.m.

Council appointed Councillor Andrew LeBlanc as Deputy Mayor for a one year term effective immediately.

Council authorized representatives of the 2020 Grad Class at Riverview High School to conduct a parade through a portion of the Town of Riverview commencing at the Riverview Mall on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 between the hours of 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Council made a motion for the Town of Riverview to recognize and publically support June as Pride month.

Council awarded a grant in the amount of $499 to the Riverview Pickleball Club.

Council accepted staff's recommendation to proceed with the proposed changes to the Collection Waste Schedule and further to proceed with a communication plan in June 2020 to communicate the change to the residents, which will become effective July 1, 2020.

Council made a motion recommending that the Town of Riverview become an International Peace City.

Councillor Rampersaud gave a Notice of Motion that she wanted to give consideration to proclamations/endorsements at the next meeting of Council.
