Monthly Grant Report

  • $1000 to the Soldier On Air Show being held on September 23, 2020.
  • $2,500 in support of the 2020 HubCap Comedy Festival.
  • $500 to the Albert County Historical Association in support of the 175th Anniversary of Albert County.
  • $1,000 in support of the Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade.
  • $300 to The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 54 to offset costs to pave the parking lot at the Legion.
  • $3,500 in support of the Atlantic Nationals.
  • $10,000 to the Anglophone East School District in support of a YOU Turns Strategic Coordinator.

Other Business

Council appointed Denis Pleau, Robin True and Mitch Short as Fire Prevention Officers for the Town of Riverview.

Council approved the technical and functional program for the Riverview Recreation Complex as presented and use it as the foundation for the following steps to continue to move this project forward

Council granted the request for an exemption from the noise by-law to allow the contractor to work 24 hours per day in order to ensure completion of the tree clearing on Bridgedale Boulevard.

Council intends to proceed with the Process for Amendment to Municipal Plan By-Law, Zoning By-Law and the Controlled Access By-Law relating to Dobson Landing.

Council declared a state of climate emergency.

Next Meeting 

In light of the COVID-19 situation, the March 23, 2020 Committee of the Whole meeting has been cancelled. Council will hold a brief Special Council Meeting at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2020 via a conference call.

In accordance with Section 69 of the Local Governance Act, Council have the option to attend meetings electronically. On this occasion, Council will use the Go To Meeting online service and the meeting will be broadcast live on our web page as usual.

The Town of Riverview remains committed to delivering critical and essential municipal services to the public over the coming time period. Whilst ensuring we can continue to serve our residents, it is also our responsibility to ensure we act in a way that reduces the spread of COVID-19.
