Council Highlights – Special Council Meeting – May 3, 2021

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE

  • Council approved the 2020 Annual Report for the Town of Riverview.
  • Council directed staff to proceed with the replacement of the two gates at the Operation Centre and to use the combined savings in the PWE/Utility capital and operating budget(s) of approximately $800,000 to $900,000 to pay for this work.
  • Council directed staff to investigate the feasibility of negotiating with the land owners to acquire the parcels of land needed to expand the Mill Creek Nature Park as put forth by the Friends of Mill Creek in a presentation on April 26, 2021.
  • Council supported the Sun Life Walk for the Cure (virtual event) in the amount of $500. The event will be held June 13, 2021 by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
  • Council endorsed an information toolkit as outlined in the Council Report Form of April 26, 2021 and authorized Town Staff to create a toolkit specific to Riverview. Council also recommended that Town Staff bring back their recommendations to Council for consideration.

 AWARD OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL - 21-05

  • Council awarded the Request for Proposal for sewer cleaning and video inspection services, RFP 21-05, to MacVac Environmental Inc. in the amount of $39,510.00 plus HST.

AWARD OF TENDER 21-36

  • Council awarded the supply and delivery of one (1) latest-model 3/4 ton HD 4WD regular cab, long-box truck, Tender 21-36, to Lounsbury Automotive Ltd. in the amount of $44,979.50 plus HST.

AWARD OF TENDER 21-38

  • Council awarded the supply and delivery of one (1) latest-model 4WD diesel 72" cut, ride-on mower with trade-in, Tender 21-38, to Nova International Ltd. in the amount of $32,600.00 plus HST.

AWARD OF TENDER 21-64

  • Council awarded the replacement of underground duct and wiring for streetlights, Carnation Crescent and Trider Court, Tender 21-64, to Roadway Systems Ltd. in the amount of $49,716.30 plus HST.

RATIFICATION OF LABOUR AGREEMENT - IAFF 2549

  • Council ratified the labour agreement with IAFF Local 2549 for a four-year term expiring March 31, 2025, including the proposed wage settlement of 2.25% for Firefighter/Paramedics each year and 2.0% for Administrative Assistant Position each year.

DISCUSSION ON COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING DATE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY

  • Riverview Town Council will not hold a meeting on May 25, 2021. It will be held after the official results are released and the oath of office ceremony is held following the 2021 municipal election.

CLARIFICATION ON COUNCIL SALARY BY-LAW

  • With respect to Sections 2, 3 & 4 of By-Law 100-15-10, Council approved staying within the spirit of the by-law and making the base salary increase effective with the swearing in of the new Council. The annual CPI increase will, however, take effect as per the by-law on May 24, 2021.
