Regular Council Meeting – November 12, 2019

Before the meeting, Mayor Seamans recognized the artists whose pieces were selected for the 2019 Art Procurement Program. The Town of Riverview’s Art Procurement Committee purchased seven pieces of artwork this year including four pieces from its own call out in September which solicited 18 submissions from Riverview artists. The selections were:

  • Frosted Coats, acrylic on canvas by Chrystal Moynagh        
  • Northern Lights, water colour by Stephen Ritchie              
  • Lilies Dock, oil on canvas by Ji Hyang Ryu
  • Watering Cans, photograph on canvas by Ira Crummey

With remaining funds, three pieces of artwork were also purchased from the Riverview Library Art Show which ran Oct- Nov 29, 2019:

  • Sackville Days, acrylic on canvas by Alison Davidson
  • Backyard Birch, linoprint on paper by Lisa Killam
  • 5 Baby Swallows, scratchboard on masonite in a Nest by Diane Cote

Adoption of the Minutes

Monthly Grant Report

  • $850 to the C3 Leadership – Act Three event taking place on November 21, 2019.  

Policies

  • None presented.

Tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFP)

  • Tender 19-42 for the Supply & Delivery of Ventrac Tractor with Cab & Attachments be awarded to Green Diamond Equipment Ltd. in the revised amount of $83,995.29 (including optional attachments and excluding tax).

Other Business

Council made a resolution to set date for a public presentation regarding the new Street Trees By-Law.

  • A public presentation for the Municipal Plan By-law Amendment No. 300-33-1 be scheduled for December 9, 2019 at 4:15 p.m.;
  • That the Municipal Plan By-law Amendment No. 300-33-1 and Zoning By-law Amendment No. 300-7-2, with associated additions and changes, be referred to the Planning Advisory Committee for its written views; and
  • That a public hearing be scheduled for January 13, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at Riverview Town Hall.

Next Meeting 

Council will next meet for two Committee of the Whole meetings specific to budget deliberations on Wednesday, November 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, November 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The next regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole is Monday, November 25 at 7 p.m. All public meetings are live-streamed on our website.
