Council Starts 2023 Budget Discussions  

The Town of Riverview is inviting residents to attend budget discussions as Council reviews various capital and operating budgets supported by the municipality. 
 
Council first heard from local organizations last Thursday that receive annual funding from the Town at a public meeting including presentations from the following:   

Riverview Public Library - Kate Hansen, Chairperson, Board of Directors
BGC Riverview - Lynda Carey, Executive Director
Capitol Theatre - Melannie Eldridge, Director of Development
YouTurns - Paul Toner, Associate Director
Riverview Arts Centre - Julie Hopkins, Executive Director
Codiac Regional Policing Authority - Don Moore, Chairperson, Board of Directors
Codiac Transpo - Angela Allain, Director, Public Transit
TransAqua - Kevin Rice, General Manager

Councillors will convene again over a full day with staff to examine internal budget proposals in November. All public budget meetings are held in Council Chambers at Riverview Town Hall - 30 Honour House Court. 
 
Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Present Budget to Council 
Nov. 12, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Present Budget to Council (only if necessary) 
Nov. 14, 7 p.m. - Regular Council Meeting - Final Approval of Budget

The process for developing the budget begins in the fall of each year. At that time, Council establishes priorities for the upcoming budget based on staff and citizen input provided throughout the year.
