Guidance for Halloween following Zone 1's return to yellow
Yesterday, the province announced that Zone 1 (including Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe) will be returning to the yellow phase in their Phases of Recovery. In light of this, residents in the tri-community are once again able to enjoy Halloween trick-or-treating if they wish. Halloween will be different this year and residents are asked to respect those who choose not to participate in door-to-door trick-or-treating.
For those that DO NOT want guests at their door this year, here are some options to show others that you are not participating this year:
- Download this printable form to place on your door
- Leave your porch light(s) off
For those that DO wish to take part in door-to-door trick-or-treating this year, you must follow the Province of New Brunswick’s Halloween guidelines, which are available online here: Here are a few highlights:
- Leave a porch or outside light on to signal you are participating in the trick-or-treating tradition
- Sanitize hands between trick or treat visitors
- Keep high touch areas such as door handles and railings clean
- Consider offering non-food treats like stickers or coloured pencils
- Consider making up individual treat bags rather than using one bowl
- Wash hands thoroughly before and after trick-or-treating
- Limit trick-or-treating to one neighbourhood.
- There are no official hours for Halloween in Riverview, however the Town encourages trick-or-treating between 4-8 p.m.
Above all else, have a safe and happy Halloween!
