Gunningsville Boulevard intersection improvements to be completed mid-September

RIVERVIEW (N.B.) – Improvements to the Gunningsville Boulevard intersection at Hillsborough Road/Coverdale Road are progressing well, however, weather delays and various construction conflicts have pushed the project’s completion date to mid-September.

Final improvements such as landscaping, concrete islands and sidewalks should take approximately one week to complete, at which point crews will apply the final layer of asphalt and permanent lane markings, install signage, and activate the new traffic lights system. All work is scheduled to be completed by September 21.

Starting tonight, Sept. 6, the temporary stop sign on the northbound on-ramp to the Gunningsville Bridge will be replaced with a permanent yield sign.

When finished, improvements to the intersection will include:

  • A second southbound left-turn lane from Gunningsville Bridge onto Hillsborough Road
  • A second eastbound left-turn lane on Coverdale Road onto the Gunningsville Bridge
  • A second northbound through lane on Gunningsville Boulevard
  • A second receiving lane on a portion of Gunningsville Bridge and Hillsborough Road.

Motorists should drive with extra care throughout the intersection and respect signage that is in place to give direction in the work zone.
