New Riverview bus offers improved public transit service

A brand new Codiac Transpo greeted riders on this morning's 80 Gunningsville route thanks to a joint funding partnership between the Town of Riverview, Government of New Brunswick and Government of Canada. This completes the replacement ofboth buses in Riverview's fleet following the upgrade of a new 81 Riverview route bus in October, 2017.

The new buses offer modern accessibility features. Instead of steps at the front entry door, the new models have a low-floor design and wider entry to accommodate passengers with walkers, strollers and mobility constraints. Stainless steel frames will ensure the buses are a long-lasting infrastructure investment. They each have an anticipated life span of 15-18 years and more than 800,000 km to be driven by end of life. Using clean diesel technology, which has improved environmental standards compared to the older model, results in cleaner burning and fewer greenhouse gas emissions while also offering fuel efficiencies.

Town Councillors Tammy Rampersaud and Cecile Cassista passed out muffins and enjoyed lively conversation with passengers on their commutes today.
