Ride the Tide tour offers local adventure on the Petitcodiac River

Update: This event was originally scheduled to run on Aug. 9. It was postponed to Aug. 22 due to the risk of thundershowers.

Come Ride the Tide in Riverview this summer on an eco-cultural bike tour along the Petitcodiac River that’s not to be missed!

Ride the Tide is a new product in the 2018 Tourism New Brunswick Experience Collection developed by the Town of Riverview, La Bikery Co-operative, Fundy Biosphere Reserve and Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance.

Start at La Bikery before heading out on trails that hug the Petitcodiac River, famous for its Tidal Bore, and part of the UNESCO Fundy Biosphere Reserve. Your guide will fill you in on the culture and ecology of the area as you ride along. A stop to meet a local storyteller will deepen your understanding of the region’s people and history. Having worked up an appetite on the bike, it’s time to stop at the Fundy Chocolate River Station where you’ll enjoy a local lunch on the deck. Finally, upon your return, join us to create your own up-cycled bike art that’ll remind you of your time with the tides.

  • Registration: Eventbrite.com (search Ride the Tide Bike Tour)
  • Tour times: Wednesdays and Fridays until the end of the summer at 10 a.m.
  • Cost: $45/adult, $25/youth under 12 (must be accompanied by an adult), $90/family rate (up to 2 adults and 2 children). To purchase youth or family rate tickets, please call or stop in to La Bikery Co-operative.
  • Included: Bike and helmet rentals, a lunch made with locally-produced ingredients, and a refreshment.
  • What to bring: Water bottles and other personal items for an outdoor activity (such as sunscreen, bug spray, etc.)
  • Things to note: The trail is smooth and flat, making it suitable for all ages and levels. There are washrooms and water stations along the trail.

Can’t make it to a daytime tour? You’re in luck!

Reservations are now open for a sunset ride on Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 6- 9 p.m. Participants will be treated to Buddha Bear Riverview’s Holy Whale beer and fresh popcorn on the Fundy Chocolate River Station boardwalk.
