Riverview Shopping Campaign Brings $100,000 to Small Businesses

Spending hundreds of dollars on Christmas shopping in Riverview paid off for local resident Debbie LeBlanc. The Riverview resident will get a $1,000 shopping spree on behalf of the Town in gift cards to be spent at local outlets thanks to this year’s Find Your Gift Holiday Shopping Contest.

“As the owner of Sylvia’s Natural Way Skin Care, I’d like to thank my clients who supported this campaign as well as the other small businesses. We had a great time and we look forward to the New Year,” says owner of Sylvia’s Natural Way Skin Care, a returning participant and the location responsible for collecting the most passports during the campaign.

Riverview businesses are celebrating post-holiday festivities with a total of 500 passports completed valuing $100,000 spent in one month at 50 participating locations. This year’s contest allowed shoppers to collect stamps for every $20 spent at participating businesses beginning on the night of the Mayor’s Tree Lighting ceremony, which drew a crowd of over 1,000 residents. Each completed passport was entered into a random draw for a Riverview shopping spree, which was captured on the Town’s social channels.

“Spending locally around the holidays or at any time of year means that those dollars remain in the local economy, will be re-circulated and support a thriving local independent business sector,” says Shane Thomson, Director of Economic Development.

In addition to the grand prize, there were five early bird draws worth $50 each held between December 10 and 14. To view a list of this year’s participating businesses, visit lightupriverview.splashthat.com

Draw winners chose the following local businesses to spend their winnings:

Global Pet Foods
Giant Tiger
Riverview Guardian Pharmacy

Old Time Meat Market
