Riverview’s Holiday Passport Contest a win for local businesses

Spending hundreds of dollars on Christmas shopping in Riverview paid off for local resident Terry Wenarchuk. Mr. Wenarchuk has received a $1,000 shopping spree of his own in gift cards to spend with the Riverview Business Collective thanks to the Holiday Passport Contest!

During the 2017 campaign period, 2925 ballots were submitted equating to $585,000 in spending directly attributable to the campaign, an incredible 260% more than in the previous year.

“We are so pleased to see the increased level of participation in this year’s campaign. We’re hopeful that the holiday shopping experience that people found in Riverview encourages people to sustain that commitment to shopping local throughout the year,” said Shane Thomson, the Town’s Director of Economic Development.

The Holiday Passport Contest allowed shoppers to collect stamps for every $20 they spent at participating businesses, starting on the night of the Mayor’s Light Launch on Nov. 22 and ending on Dec. 24, 2017. Each passport filled with 20 stamps was entered into a random draw for a $1,000 Riverview shopping spree.

In addition to the grand prize there were five early bird draws worth $50 each held between December 11 and 15.
