Town seeking Riverview artists to submit proposals for Art Procurement Program

The Town of Riverview invites local artists to submit their work for consideration in the Art Procurement Program (APP). The citizen-led APP jury will select and purchase artwork(s) on the Town’s behalf to add to the Town’s art collection.

Submisions must be received on September 11, 2018 and must meet the requirements in the APP Policy available at townofriverview.ca/arts.

Eligibility

To apply, artists must be a Riverview resident for at least twelve consecutive months. Artist eligibility is not reliant on an artist’s professional status but rather on the artwork. No work by any member of the APP jury or their immediate family will be considered for purchase.

Art acquisition

The Town of Riverview will purchase artwork(s) from the works submitted for this call. The artwork must be deemed appropriate for the Town’s art collection based on the selection criteria established by the APP policy. The artwork will be displayed in Council Chambers for up to two years following acquisition and then may be relocated to another Town-owned public building.

Submissions

Each artist may submit one work only. Artwork must be original and be suitably framed and ready to hung. Submissions of images of work will only be permitted for sculptural pieces. Art that is not accompanied by this form will not be considered. Artists must affix to the back of the artwork a completed APP proposal form available at townofriverview.ca.

Artwork drop-off

Artwork must be delivered to the Town’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Relations (55 Biggs Drive) on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 between 12 and 5 p.m. Submissions will not be accepted after this date and time. The artist is responsible for unpacking their artwork and taking their packaging with them. Subsequently, the artist is responsible for re-wrapping upon pick-up.

Acceptance

Only artists whose artwork is selected for purchase will be notified by telephone the afternoon of the following day, Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

Artwork pick-up

Artwork not chosen must be picked up on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the above drop-off location between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Town of Riverview is not responsible for any artwork not picked up at this time.

The Town of Riverview's Art Procurement Program aims to improve the appearance of our public buildings, promote local talent and contribute to the economic success of artists in our community. In 2017, the Art Procurement Program jury selected and purchased the paintings ‘Adrift’ by Shannon Williams, ‘Amish Wonder’ by Lee Anne Gibson, and ‘My Pansy Patch’ by Ruth Smith.
