Town urges residents, businesses to plan now as Province announces April 5 causeway closure

(RIVERVIEW, NB) - Today, the Government of New Brunswick announced that the closure of the causeway that connects Riverview and Moncton will begin on Monday, April 5, 2021 for six months.

The Town of Riverview and City of Moncton / Ville de Moncton are encouraging the public to plan ahead for the closure, which will take place while the Province completes construction of the new bridge at the causeway.

In the coming weeks, the municipalities of Riverview and Moncton will be communicating numerous initiatives to residents that will be put in place to minimize the impact on commuters. In the meantime, residents can consider some of the following options in preparation of the closure:

● modifying work hours for quieter travel times;

● walking, biking, carpooling or using transit to work;

● allowing extra time to complete errands;

● reducing or combining trips across the Gunningsville Bridge
