Fire Escape Planning
Having—and practicing—a home fire escape plan will protect your family and increase the odds of surviving a fire.
Make a Plan
- Draw a floor plan of your home to showing two exits from every room.
- Leave the house immediately if you hear the smoke alarm going off or hear someone shouting "fire!"
- Set up a meeting place outside your home in case of fire.
- Make sure someone calls the fire department once they have escaped from the building.
- Make certain no one re-enters the burning building. Firefighters are specially trained and equipped to perform rescue operations.
- Print your Home Escape Plan template.
