Casual Equipment Operator II

The Town of Riverview is currently seeking a Casual Equipment Operator II for the Department of Engineering & Public Works. 

The Casual Equipment Operator II is expected to perform duties under limited supervision in accordance with accepted practices and precautions of operating and servicing equipment used for municipal snow plowing, road salting, ditching, repairing and clearing water and sewer lines, grading and sweeping operations.  Given the nature of the work, the position may require work outside traditional hours; and, may be called upon to assist in various other municipal public works operations.     

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED);
• Valid Class 3E New Brunswick driver’s license;
• Two (2) years practical work experience in the operation and servicing of heavy equipment and vehicles including but not limited to: snow plow, excavator, front end loader and back hoe;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision;
• Ability to understand and follow safe work policies as outlined by the Town of Riverview and the province of New Brunswick;
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours and/or extended hours, when required. 

This position is represented by CUPE Local 2162.  Wage is according to the collective agreement at $29.56 per hour at 40 hours per week over a maximum term of four (4) months. Snow plowing operations performed by the Equipment Operator II classification are considered an essential service to the Town of Riverview which may require extended working hours and call outs not exceeding 16 hours in a 24 hour day in accordance with Article 9 of the collective agreement particularly during snow and ice storms. Regular hours of work are in accordance with Article 9.01(a) of the collective agreement.
