PETITIONS, PRESENTATIONS, & DELEGATIONS

  • Presentation by Ketan Ravel on updates with Moncton Cares, including the work they do to support newcomers and how they’re looking for space in Riverview to provide services as well.
  • Presentation by Kirk Brewer, Planner – Plan 360, on the proposed amendments to redesignate the properties on Hillsborough Road bearing PIDs  PIDs 05009949 and 00642736 from CU - (Community Use) to C (Commercial) and to rezone said properties from OS (Open Space) to SC (Suburban Commercial); and amendment to the Future Roads Map.
  • Presentation by Fire Chief Robin True on the 2024-2028 Riverview Fire & Rescue Strategic Plan

EXTERNAL REPORTS

DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS

  • All departments shared their Departmental Reports for February 2024
  • Council recommended to accept the staff recommendation to change the scope for the tender of Project #24-65 to include an additional $200,000 for additional sidewalk and curb work on Hillsborough Rd (Old Coach Road to Point Park Drive). This additional construction work will be added to the project based on the outcome of the proposed commercial rezoning request on Hillsborough Rd.

OTHER BUSINESS

  • Staff approved a grant in the amount of $500 to Moncton-Riverview Highland Dance Association.
  • Staff approved a grant in the amount of $250 to the Navy League Cadet Corp 193 Codiac.
  • Staff approved a grant in the amount of $500 to the Greater Moncton Women’s Progress Club.
  • Staff approved a grant in the amount of $300 to the Riverview Pickleball Club.
  • Staff approved a grant in the amount $100 to Rylee McAllister – Summit Cheer Championships.
  • Staff approved a grant in the amount of $500 to the Greater Moncton Music Festival.
  • Council recommended to award a grant in the amount of $1,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • Council recommended to award a grant in the amount of $1,500 to Riverview U15 AA Blues Provincial Hockey Championship being hosted at the Byron Dobson Arena.
  • The Strategic Plan Year End Update – 2023 was provided to Council.
  • Mayor LeBlanc appointed Chris Whalen to the Planning Advisory Committee and reappointed Shawn Dempsey, Rob Bateman, Debby Warren, Susan Steeves, Daniel Primeau, and John Gallant.

COUNCIL STATEMENTS & INQUIRIES

  • Mayor LeBlanc extended congratulations to the cast and crew of the Capital Theatre’s production of The Little Mermaid.
  • Councillor Cassista provided an update that news will be announced regarding the Town of Riverview's Age-Friendly Community Designation on March 7.
