CORRESPONDENCE

Council tabled correspondence – ‘Declaration after the poll has been taken’ – from Kim Poffenroth, the Province’s Municipal Electoral Officer. The document confirmed the following individuals had been elected in the municipality of Riverview:

Mayor: Andrew J. LeBlanc (former Councillor-at-Large and Deputy Mayor)

Councillors-at-Large: Cecile Cassista (re-elected), Russell Hayward, Heath Johnson

Ward 1 Councillor: Sarah Murphy

Ward 2 Councillor: John R. Coughlan (re-elected)

Ward 3 Councillor: Jeremy Thorne (re-elected)

Ward 4 Councillor: Wayne Bennett (re-elected)

  

ADJOURNMENT / PRESENTATION TO RETIRING MEMBERS OF COUNCIL

The meeting was adjourned and a presentation made to retiring members of Council: Mayor Ann Seamans, Councillor Tammy Rampersaud and Lana Hansen.
 

OATH OF OFFICE CEREMONY

New and returning members of Riverview Town Council (listed above) took their oath of office before Town Clerk Annette Crummey. After council was seated, a motion was made to open a new meeting. Mayor LeBlanc announced his liaison committee appointments as follows:

  • Ad-Hoc Committee, Review of Community Investment Policy/Applications:Councillor Casissta (Chair), Councillors Bennett and Johnson
  • Capitol Theatre: Councillor Bennett
  • Codiac Transpo: Deputy Mayor Thorne (Alternate: Councillor Coughlan)        
  • Codiac Regional Policing Authority: Councillor Coughlan                                                
  • Emergency Measures: Mayor LeBlanc, Deputy Mayor Thorne, Councillors Coughlan and Hayward
  • Greater Moncton Homelessness Steering Committee: Councillor Hayward 
  • Multicultural Association of Greater Moncton Area (MAGMA): Councillor Murphy
  • Pension & Benefits Committee: Councillor Cassista 
  • Performance Review for CAO: Mayor LeBlanc; Councillors Cassista and Coughlan          
  • Riverview Armed Forces & Veterans Association: Councillor Murphy

ELECTION OF DEPUTY MAYOR

Councillor Jeremy Thorne was elected Deputy Mayor for the Town of Riverview for a one-year term.

CHANGE TO JUNE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING

The date of the June Committee of the Whole meeting was changed to Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 6 p.m.
