Council to start 2022 budget discussions  

The Town of Riverview is inviting residents to virtually attend budget discussions as Council reviews various capital and operating budgets supported by the municipality. 
 
Council will first hear from local organizations that receive annual funding from the Town at a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 14 at 6 p.m. This will include presentations from the following:   

BGC Riverview - Matt McKeigan, Board Member
Riverview Public Library - Kate Hansen, Chairperson, Board of Directors
Capitol Theatre - Melannie Eldridge, Director of Development
Riverview Arts Centre - Julie Hopkins, Executive Director
Codiac Transpo - Angela Allain, Director, Public Transit
TransAqua - Kevin Rice, General Manager

Councillors will convene again over a full day with staff to examine internal budget proposals in November. All public budget meetings are held in Council Chambers at Riverview Town Hall. Members of the public who attend in person must show proof of vaccination and government-issued photo ID and wear a mask while inside.  
 
Oct. 14, 6 p.m. - Presentations from external organizations 
Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Present Budget to Council 
Nov. 13 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Present Budget to Council (only if necessary) 
Nov. 15, 4 p.m. - Special Council Meeting to approve 2022 budget  

The process for developing the budget begins in the fall of each year. At that time, Council establishes priorities for the upcoming budget based on staff and citizen input provided throughout the year.
