Trimming Tradition: Faded Views Barbershop Cuts a Niche in Riverview

When Colton Keirstead opened Faded Views Barbershop on Coverdale Road one year ago, he had a vision of a place where clients would not only get great service, but also a space for community engagement and a celebration of Riverview’s charm. Colton takes great pride in the service he provides, as being part of the small business community in Riverview has been his dream come true.

“I am a Riverviewian through and through, so much so that I have the Riverview sign tattooed on my arm along with the slogan, ‘a great place to grow’. To say I am proud of where I’m from is an extreme understatement,” says Colton. “All the local business are what makes this town a great place to live, to raise a family, and the amazing clients I serve inspire me.”

Colton Keirstead took the leap into the world of barbering after completing a course at Eastern College in Saint John. One year into his barbering journey, Colton decided to open his own shop, and the rest is history. His commitment to providing top-notch service, giving back to the community, and providing a welcoming and patient place for kids cuts, has set Faded Views apart.

Inspired by the revival of old-school barbering culture in Moncton by Ryan Browne, owner of Handsome Devils Barbershop, Colton has successfully recreated that classic ambiance at Faded Views. The shop offers appointment-based services including hot towel treatments.

“To me, community is about working together. I was absolutely honoured when we won bronze for People’s Choice in the Community Votes Moncton 2023 Awards, especially within a year of opening. It was so touching to have the community embrace this new business and match my enthusiasm for being part of the Riverview business community” says Colton.

Since the beginning, Colton has been proudly joined by his right-hand man, shop lead, and fellow Riverviewian, Jamie Flowers. With the hiring of tattoo artist and another Riverview native, Trenton Gollan, Faded Views has developed into a one-stop grooming and art destination. Colton and his enthusiastic team have taken the neighbourly feel of an old-time barbershop and modernized it to best serve the Riverview community.

A welcoming destination for the young and old, locals and visitors alike, be sure to follow the Faded Views Barbershop Facebook page to keep an eye out for contests, giveaways, and to book your next appointment!
