Unveiling of Royal Canadian Air Force monument in Caseley Park

RIVERVIEW (N.B.) – The 17-foot diameter propeller from an Argus CP-107 aircraft will be unveiled in Caseley Park on Saturday, November 3, as part of Riverview’s display of other military monuments in the community park adjacent to Riverview Town Hall.

The Royal Canadian Air Force monument will join a ships anchor recognizing the Royal Canadian Navy, polished Norwegian stone commemorating the Merchant Marine, and a Centurion Tank paying tribute to the Canadian Army.

In order to represent all elements of the Canadian Forces, the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association embarked on a project to erect a monument to recognize all of the men and women who have served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in both war and peace.

Everyone is welcome to attend the public ceremony which will begin at 2 p.m. with a short historical overview of the air force’s impact on the local area of Riverview, Moncton and Dieppe, as well as a brief description of the Argus Propeller by the event’s emcee Dr. Paul E. Belliveau, followed by the unveiling and blessing of the monument.

Bill Hanson, President of the Riverview Veterans and Armed Forces Association and Committee Chair said, “The Royal Canadian Navy, the Merchant Marine and the Army have had monuments in place since the early 1990s so it is timely that the Royal Canadian Air Force will now be represented.”

Date: Saturday, November 3

Time: 2-4 p.m.

Where: Caseley Park adjacent to the Riverview Town Hall (30 Honour House Court)
