Ward 1 Councillor Sarah Murphy Elected Deputy Mayor
RIVERVIEW (N.B.) – Council has elected Sarah Murphy, Ward 1 Councillor, as Deputy Mayor, following a motion at the June 12 Regular Council Meeting.
The Deputy Mayor is called upon to represent the Mayor at public events when he cannot attend, and chair council meetings in the absence of the Mayor. Council elects a new deputy mayor every year.
Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc welcomes Deputy Mayor Murphy into this role, who is a familiar face for many residents from serving on Council since 2021, as a part-time teacher, and as an active community volunteer since 2007. He also thanks outgoing Deputy Mayor Wayne Bennett for his service over the last year.
Deputy Mayor Murphy will serve in this role until May 2024.
