Household Fire Safety
A home should be a place that family feels safe and secure. But there are many ways—without even realizing it—that we can create a fire hazard in and around our houses.
To help keep your home fire safe:
- Properly store fuels such as gasoline and propane.
- Keep your yard clean of piles of branches, debris, and grass.
- Make sure your address numbers are up and visible from the street.
- Check outdoor electrical outlets and other electrical appliances for animal nests and to ensure proper wiring.
- Remove leaves and trash from carports and garages: Combustible materials are dangerous if they are exposed to heated automobile components, especially under the vehicle.
- Clean up and properly store paints and pool and yard chemicals.
