Town of Riverview / Explore Riverview: Your Day Trip Itinerary

Whether you’re taking advantage of the Atlantic Bubble and coming to visit, or you call Riverview home 365 days of the year, we’re excited to welcome so many of you to town this summer. With so much to do and so many local businesses to support, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed when it comes to planning the perfect day trip in Riverview. Have no fear! We’ve put together our idea of the perfect day trip itinerary to visit our little slice of paradise this summer.

Fuel up for your day at the Homestead
Every day trip should begin with a hearty breakfast, and there’s no better place to fuel up for your day of exploring than at the Homestead Restaurant, one of Riverview’s most beloved restaurants. This locally-owned family business first opened for business in 1991 and has been serving good, honest, old-fashioned, home-cooked food ever since.

Take a morning stroll along the riverfront trail
The Riverfront Trail is home to a lot of things, but some of our favourite things are its covered bridge, maritime lighthouse, beautiful community garden, and the Third Wave sculpture! Run, bike or walk along the trail with tons of fun stops along the way, and make sure to take in the sun’s reflection on the chocolate river.

Play a round of golf or go for a dip!
Once you’ve had your breakfast and warmed up by walking along the waterfront, why not step it up a notch and hit the links! You can play a round of nine holes at the Moncton Golf and Country Club (yes, it’s located right here in Riverview!) ahead of lunch. Super hot day outside? Stop by the Community Pool or Riverview’s Splash Pad for a little fun in the sun!

Stop for lunch at one of many local dinning dens
Are you feeling a little hungry after all that morning activity? Stop by and see the friendly folks at Five Bridges Neighborhood Bar and Grill for lunch, or pop by Alto’s for a variety of delicious Italian, Greek, German and Asian cuisine. Craving a classic French bistro? Stop by Nico’s Bakery & Café. With so many restaurants to choose from in town, there really is something for everyone.

Support local by visiting these shops
There’s never been a more crucial time than now to shop local and support small businesses. Riverview is home to many family-owned businesses that can’t wait to welcome you this summer! Start your shopping trip off with a stop at Briggs Maples to pick up some of the tastiest maple syrup products around. We’re talking maple BBQ sauces, maple cotton candy, and just plain ol’ maple syrup. They also have an exposed distillery so you can see first-hand how their products are made! Then head over to Glass Roots to take a peak at their art gallery and glassworks on display before picking up a hand painted poster to remind you of your time in Riverview. Have dinner on the town
Did you know that Riverview has DOZENS of fantastic restaurants to choose from when dining out? Whether you’re in the mood for authentic Chinese cuisine at Silvery Moon (a Riverview classic) or maybe you’re feeling more like a slice of pizza from Bravo Pizza. The options are endless! Check out our post on "Riverview Restaurants You've Gotta Try This Summer" for a list of mouthwatering restos.

Grab an ice cream cone for desert
After dinner, make sure to stop by the Ice Cream Barn, now open for the season, to grab an ice cream! We highly recommended it, especially on those hot summer nights. Even better, bring your pup with you when you go! They’re now offering free dog cookies and Pup Cups - a vanilla ice cream with a dog cookie on top - for your furry friend.

Cap the night off with a drink and sunset
Is there any better way to end a summer’s day than by catching the sunset on the water? Riverview happens to be one of the best places to watch the sun go down (and come up), and if you’re lucky you might witness the Tidal Bore as it rolls along the Petitcodiac River. We can’t think of a better way to end your day than with a cold drink in your hand from the Holy Whale Beer Garden as you watch nature do its thing. Heading home early? Fill up a growler at Celtic Knot to take with you. We recommend the Paddy O'Furniture, a lemon wheat beer. Tell us - what’s on your Riverview day trip itinerary? #AGreatPlaceTo...
