Waste and Recycling
Town of Riverview / Waste and Recycling

Waste collection in Riverview takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays. Find your schedule here. Waste must be at the curb before 6 a.m. on the day of collection, but not before 6 p.m. on the night before collection. Each bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lb).

The Town is responsible for collecting waste at all residential households in Riverview. Southeast Eco360 (formerly Westmorland Albert Solid Waste Corporation) manages the area's solid waste program including a glass recycling depot on Robertson Street.

3-Stream Program

The Town of Riverview requires the separation of recyclables in a blue bag, organics in a green bag, and garbage in a clear bag. The green bag is collected weekly and the blue and clear bags are picked up on alternating weeks Learn more about what goes in which bag.

Bulk Waste and Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Bulk waste is collected bi-weekly alongside clear garbage starting the week of July 11, 2022. Residents can put one bulky item curbside every two weeks with their clear garbage. This schedule replaces previous bi-annual (spring/fall) bulky waste week collection. This includes household appliances, furniture, large electronics, yard clippings, etc. Remember, you can also donate usable furniture and household items to EnviroPlus (853-7722) and Habitat for Humanity ReStore (384-4664). For the safety of collectors, household hazardous waste is never accepted at the curb. Please note that if the truck is too full for your bulky item upon regular collection, the contractor will come back when they have more space (this can be up to 24 hours). Metal items are collected on a separate truck whenever possible, so this will be the case with bulky items of that nature. If you are putting out an item that could be mistaken as an outdoor item that you didn't want to throw away (i.e. a wheelbarrow) please add a sign that says "take me" to ensure it is picked up.

Tips to avoid having items left at the curb:

  • Materials must be set out before 6 a.m. on regular collection day.
  • Branches must be 1 inch diameter or less, bundled in 2’x2’x2’ bundles.
  • Each bag must weigh no more than 18 kg (40 lb).
  • Tires will not be collected.
  • All regular-sized waste, organics and recycling must be in the correct coloured transparent bags (clear, green and blue, respectively). Black bags will not be collected.

Hazardous, commercial, and demolition waste cannot be picked up at the curb.
