Winter Parking Program Returns

(RIVERVIEW, NB) The Town of Riverview is once again calling on motorists to help keep Riverview moving safely and efficiently this winter.

From December 1 to April 1, overnight parking on town streets between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. is only permitted when snow-clearing and ice-removal operations are not expected or underway. Vehicles in violation of the Town’s Traffic By-Law 700-11 could be ticketed and/or towed.

To avoid penalties, residents must check the Riverview Alerts dashboard before parking on the street overnight. If a parking ban is in effect the dashboard will be updated by 6 p.m. Residents can also sign up to receive parking ban and/or emergency alert notices via email and/or text message — visit our alerts page for further details.

A parking ban is implemented when snow-clearing or ice-removal operations are expected. Even if it's not currently snowing, streets and sidewalks may still need to be salted in anticipation of cold/icy weather in the forecast.

The Town would like to remind residents that in the event of a storm they are responsible for removing all road obstructions, including hockey nets, basketball nets, and anything that may interfere with snow clearing operations. A municipal by-law also prohibits residents from pushing snow back onto the road while clearing driveways and sidewalks.

Sign up today to receive email and/or text notifications when winter parking restrictions are in effect. Be sure to confirm your information and set your preferences to avoid any disruption in receiving alerts.
