Job Summary:

The Town of Riverview is accepting applications for the Full-Time position of Clerk Receptionist – Finance. 

The Clerk Receptionist performs front line contact with the public in the Town Hall Municipal Payments reception area, through in person, telephone and email communications; and provides basic office services for the Director, Accounting Supervisor and departmental staff. 

The reception duties include providing customer service to residents, collecting municipal payments and identifying and collecting past due water and sewer accounts. 

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

knowledge:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary Administrative/Office Technology program or equivalent related program.
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant work experience in a computerized environment;
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required;
  • Effective communication with the general public, supervisors, and peers in a tactful, diplomatic and professional manner;
  • Ability to respond to a variety of situations with a calm and steady manner;
  • Ability to interpret Town and departmental policies, procedures and practices;
  • Ability to interpret and implement the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations;
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing and execution skills;
  • Criminal Record Check to meet Town standards.

Characteristic Duties / Responsibilities 

  • Performs reception duties including greeting visitors and sourcing their questions/concerns with the appropriate personnel, and responding to phone and email inquiries;
  • Assists in the identification and collection of past-due accounts including but not limited to updating billing records, preparing and sending overdue account notification to residents, explaining procedures for over-due account collection, negotiating payment arrangements, and conducting follow-up of payment.
  • Basic administrative support to the Finance Department including basic correspondence, designing forms, and data entry;
  • Processes various Town records for storage, retrieval and disposition according to the Town of Riverview’s records management procedures and departmental file naming conventions;
  • Receives and distributes incoming and outgoing mail (intra-departmental and external), when required;
  • Completes Encumbrance Certificate requests for residential properties.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively within the organization;
  • Performs administrative tasks and other duties as assigned or required. 

 

Shift, Hours of work: 

The hours of work for Clerk Receptionist are Thirty-Five (35) hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30 pm. 

Wage and salary:

This position is full-time permanent and is represented by CUPE Local 2162 with a rate of pay of $30.20 per hour. 

Please note, candidates may be assessed on their level of skills and abilities related to the minimum requirements of the position for the daily operation of the department. Assessment components, interview criteria, as well as minimum requirement levels are determined by the Town of Riverview.
