Hopping into Handmade: Lucky Rabbit Fine Craft Opens in Riverview

Nestled in the complex at 620 Coverdale Road (Unit #7), Lucky Rabbit Fine Craft invites visitors to browse and admire a plethora of local goods. From local fine craft and jewellery to homewares, this is a space that inspires joy and comfort in the every day. 

Owner Kayla Dormer is an artist herself, and studied visual arts and photography at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. She previously worked as the curator and floor manager of Glass Roots, and has always dreamed of showcasing artists from all over the Maritimes. 

“There is an abundance of talented Maritime artists, so much so that the hardest part of my job so far has been the thought I put into the inventory. I only feature goods that I fully believe in and am focused on sourcing items primarily from the Maritimes, as well as within Canada,” says Kayla. 

Kayla hand-picks her stock with accessibility in mind — whether you have a budget of $20 or $200, you will be able to find something that you can feel good about purchasing. 

“It is a dream come true to be a space where local artists can have their work displayed,” comments Kayla. “The more people who are shopping small, handmade, and local over big-box stores, the more our community will thrive and influence others.”

Born and raised in Riverview, and coming from a family of entrepreneurs, community is at the heart of the Fine Craft shop business model. 

“Riverview is home to me,” says Kayla. “I saw this type of retail space missing and wanted to fill the gap. Art is tactile for me, and this space is designed to welcome shoppers to explore the beauty in their own backyard.”
