Bowling, Brews, & Burgers: Pépé’s Hamburger Strikes Holy Bowly

You’ve probably heard the buzz around Riverview that Holy Whale is continuing to grow and expand its offerings — this summer, alongside building owner Robert Smith, they launched the Buddha Bear Café inside of the Chocolate River Station, and they recently made local news for purchasing Upstreet Brewery in Charlottetown, PEI. Now, Riverview bowlers and foodies will be delighted to learn that there is a new hamburger stand running inside Holy Bowly, offering tasty foods to fuel your next string. Brothers and co-owners Jeff and Pete Grandy are nothing short of enthusiastic when it comes to welcoming this new addition.

“We are really excited to be able to complement the space with great food,” comments Jeff. “People can come grab supper before they bowl or enjoy some classic bowling food that pairs so well with our drink offerings.”

“Pépé is named after our grandfather, who was a professional chef,” shares Pete. “This addition is a tip of our hat to him, and it’s exciting to add this new component which has so much potential to develop and grow with our business.”

Riverview local Ryan Hillier runs Pépé’s kitchen with a deep appreciation for local cuisine and inspired flavours, using meat from the Riverview Old Time Meat Market and fresh greens from Local by Atta.

“I was used to working in a closed kitchen during my ten-year tenure at Calactus,” says Ryan. “This open atmosphere is really fun, and I’m excited for the menu to grow and develop as customers come in.”

Ryan has worked closely with Jeff and Pete to create a crowd-pleasing menu, including three types of hamburgers, seasoned French fries, chicken tenders, mozza sticks, chicken wings, and onion rings.

Opening Pépé’s was a culmination of the right person available at the right time — Ryan is close with the Grandy brothers, and helped them out with the opening of the Buddha Bear Café this summer. Pépé’s will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 6 – 9 p.m., but be sure to keep up with their news as these hours are likely to change and expand.

Eager to try out Riverview’s newest burger stand? Pépé’s grand opening celebration is this Friday, November 14 from 4 – 6 p.m. Stop by to meet Ryan, enjoy an extended happy hour on Holy Whale-made drinks, partake in a raffle for swag, tune in to the live music from Mel & Moe, and let the good times roll!
