Celebrating 25 Years of Community Care at Davidson Physiotherapy
Celebrating 25 years in business, Davidson Physiotherapy has grown alongside the community it proudly serves. When Mark Davidson first opened the clinic in 2001 at 390 Coverdale Road, he was sharing a building with what used to be the Four C’s Dairy Bar. As the sole employee at the small clinic, he later expanded his team by adding support staff and eventually, physiotherapist Brent Lewis, who has now been with the practice for 20 years. In 2013, the clinic moved to its current home at 520 Pinewood Road, a decision driven by both business growth and the rapid development of the surrounding area. At the time, there was little nearby; today, it’s a thriving commercial hub. The new clinic offered a larger space and improved accessibility, parking, and visibility; an investment that has proven to be the right move.
Having both been raised in Riverview, Mark and his wife Alison made the decision to return home, to not only build his business, but to build a life.
Over the years, he has embraced being deeply connected to the community by giving talks in schools, to community groups, and businesses, mentoring high school co-op students, supervising physiotherapy students through clinical placements, providing physiotherapy coverage for teams and athletic events, coaching track and field and minor soccer and educating young athletes on injury prevention. “I felt it was important to be involved in my community professionally and help out as much as possible,” he says. Today, the clinic employs a team of three physiotherapists, two massage therapists, and five support staff and continues to play an active role in Riverview and the Greater Moncton area.
Reflecting on a quarter-century of service, Mark says he is most proud of the clinic’s contribution to both community health and local employment. “We dedicate ourselves to creating a positive impact in the lives of people here,” he shares. Over the past 25 years, physiotherapy has evolved significantly. In 2001, there were only 10 or 11 private practices in Greater Moncton; today, there are more than 30, reflecting growing awareness and acceptance of physiotherapy as an essential part of healthcare. With greater access to online education and research, Mark and his team continue to stay current in an ever-evolving field.
Through economic shifts, healthcare changes, and unexpected challenges, Davidson Physiotherapy has remained resilient thanks to its dedicated staff and strong community support. The heart of the clinic’s work lies in patient success stories; from helping a runner achieve their goal of completing the Boston Marathon, to supporting individuals living with chronic pain, to guiding patients back to daily life after serious accidents. “The goal for all of us is to reduce pain and improve function,” Mark says. Looking ahead, he is excited to see physiotherapy gain even greater recognition and play a larger role in both public and private healthcare systems, as the province continues to invest in the future of healthcare.
