COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE COUNCIL MEETING

CORRESPONDENCE

  • Council passed a recommendation to approve the route for the 2024 Grad Parade.

PETITIONS, PRESENTATIONS, AND DELEGATIONS 

  • Presentation by Chief Robin True & Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention, John Malloy, on Wildland Urban Interface Fires.

OTHER BUSINESS 

  • Council recommended awarding a grant to the Second Chance Workshop in the amount of $1,000.  
  • Council unanimously consented to have staff review and amend the Community Grants Policy to award one lump sum to Riverview High School’s student council that they would distribute to the various student initiatives. 
  • Council recommended to direct staff to forward a letter to the provincial government requesting streetlights to be installed along Findlay Blvd from the Brenda Robertson Bridge to Whitepine Rd.  

 

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING 
Immediately following the Council of the Whole meeting there was a Special Council Meeting to consider the following tenders.   

  • Council recommended that Riverview Town Council award Tender 24-59 for Mitton Road Reconstruction and Culvert Replacement to Phillips Bros. Excavating Ltd. in the amount of $988,691.00 plus HST.  
  • Council recommended that Riverview Town Council award Tender 24-62 for Manning Road and Sherwood Avenue Reconstruction to Foulem Construction Ltée in the amount of $2,188,717.00 plus HST. 
  • Council recommended that Riverview Town Council award Tender 24-69 for Riverview Storm Sewer Improvement and Infrastructure Renewal to Foulem Construction Ltée in the amount of $1,892,430.00 plus HST. 

 

NEXT MEETING
Council next meets for a Public Hearing and the Regular Council Meeting on Monday, May 13. The Public Hearing begins at 6:30 p.m., with the Regular Council Meeting immediately following. The hearing and the meeting will be live-streamed on our website, and the agenda for the meeting will be available the Thursday prior to the meeting on the Town of Riverview Council Meetings webpage.
