Councillor Jeremy Thorne Elected Deputy Mayor
RIVERVIEW (N.B.) - Council has elected Ward 3 Councillor Jeremy Thorne as Deputy Mayor following a motion at the June 9 Regular Council Meeting.
The Deputy Mayor is called upon to represent the Mayor at public events when he cannot attend, and chair council meetings in the absence of the Mayor. Council elects a new deputy mayor every year.
Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc welcomes Deputy Mayor Throne into this role, who is serving his second term as a Councillor after being first elected in May 2016. Before running for office, he worked as an Animal Control Officer for 15 years. Deputy Mayor Thorne is a graduate of Riverview High School, a long-time resident, and has a passion for the community and the outdoor spaces it offers. Mayor LeBlanc also thanks outgoing Deputy Mayor Stephen Gouzoules for his service over the last year.
Deputy Mayor Thorne will serve in this role until May 2026, at which time there will be a Municipal Election to determine a new Council to serve a four-year term.
